Start right in the morning with the light
The hypothalamus is the part of the brain that receives light exposure through the eyes. Light triggers the hypothalamus to signal that it is morning. Serotonin is linked to morning sunlight, while darkness triggers the production of melatonin. This exposure is crucial for optimal brain health and priming your circadian rhythm.
Why is a circadian rhythm important?
For your brain cells to function properly you need to service your “Core Battery” properly. Your core battery is basically tour bodies internal time clock. You go through 4 time periods a day and it is important to fuel each one properly.
These 4 periods are 1. early morning, 2. noon to three O’clock, 3. after 3 O’clock until dinner, 4. two hours after dinner and bedtime.
Maintaining a healthy circadian rhythm leads to:
Improved energy levels
Better mood
Optimal digestion
A stronger immune system
Enhanced metabolism
Better recovery from exercise and stress
Increased growth hormone production to regenerate new tissue
Too tired to get out of bed? Hit snooze too many times?
The morning is the most important period for starting your brain health right for the day. If you hit snooze you have already failed. The thing you use to wake you up is your call to rise and prime. Rise out of bed and prime that brain for success. These next steps are crucial.
1. Feed the spirit with giving thanks, reading or journaling. 2. Watch that sun rise and get your 10 minutes of Vitamin D and feed your serotonin. 3. Motion is lotion, get moving for 10-30 minutes of fitness. 4. Feed that gut properly, get the protein in that fuels those brain cells.
Ignoring the circadian rhythm can lead to burnout and disconnection from your life’s purpose.
Establishing structure and daily habits is essential.
The brain does not finish developing until age 25. What you feed the brain can help it or hinder it. A sedentary lifestyle and excessive video gaming, alcohol, and too much caffeine can hinder brain growth.
An unhealthy gut leads to systemic inflammation. T ahis inflammation can lead to leaky gut. A leaky gut contributes to a leaky blood-brain barrier. Once that barrier starts letting in the bad stuff you are susceptible to a decline in brain health. The brain consumes 20-30% of daily calories—so what are you consuming?
Eonmotional strength equals brain strength
Do your best to keep the A.N.T.’s out. ANTS: Automatic Negative Thoughts (As Jim Kwik, with Kwik Brain states) . A healthy mindset starts with knowing your purpose, who you are, and whose you are. Remember you are a child of God fearfully and wonderfully made.
Be intentional. Write down specific desires, physical, emotional, and spiritual goals. See your struggles as opportunity for growth. Create a mission statement for yourself, including your values for both personal and professional life. Be intentional as you prioritize with the first 3 important goals for the day. A lack of balance leads to burnout.
Don’t stay walk away!
If you are like me and struggle with stopping in the middle of work and stepping outside for a brisk walk, we are not alone.
Your work will still be there. You deserve to be the best at everything you do, which can only happen with mental breaks and movement throughout the day.
Start your morning with gratitude—it rewires your brain for success and enhances decision-making. Meditation is a powerful tool to reset and refresh the brain, whether in the morning or before bed.
Your brain can be trained to think positively through the placebo effect. Counteract every negative thought with a positive one and visualize a successful outcome.

What happens when there is chaos in the brain?
Picture a waterpark where everyone is floating in a wandering river. All the innertubes are bouncing off each other, bumping the side walls, spinning and going backwards. It feels chaotic. This is similar to what happens to the cells in your brain. With proper care you can take that chaos and bring it back to homeostasis, balance and order.
The first step towards achieving this balance will be through what you put at the end of your fork. Your health and wellness depend heavily on what you feed your body.
To improve your brain health, you need nutrition

A Healthy Spirit is a Joyful Spirit. Being outside with theones you love is a great way to achieve joy.
Feeding your spirit is crucial for overall well-being.
When it comes to health and wellness, what you consume is of utmost importance. This is true for bodily heatlh and healthy spirit and mind.
The food you consume, the activities you partake in, the materials you read, the products you use, and even the time spent doing each should all be filtered through a wellness perspective.
Your identity is not just who you are but whose you are.
The very nature and core of who you helps form your moral values, compassion and understanding of others, and desire to do good. Remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by the creator of the universe, and you belong to Him.
When choosing books to read, movies to watch, consider whether they align with your values. Remember what you put in also comes out. What have you been consuming these days? Are you putting in positive, encouraging and educational material? Or are your time-wasting with mindless Netflix shows or scrolling your night away? Even the food we put in our gut can effect our spirit.
I remember after becoming a Christian sitting in my car listening to the radio singing along to one of my favorite songs when all of a sudden, I was convicted of the words I was singing. It is like putting on glasses to read words you can’t see on a page. Everything became apparent and I became more aware of what I consumed, which at the time, was NOT good for my spirit. As Christians we must use discernment use discernment when working on our spiritual health.
Start the day right with a healthy spirit
If you do not start the day right, you end it in a battle or a fight. Start your morning off by seeking the one who created you. He alreadyknows the day you are about to face and how you will handle it. He knows how you are going to handle it. Read God’s word to fill up with His wisdom for the day and put the Armour of God to protect yourself from adversity and resistance that may arise throughout the day.
The words you read in the morning might be used for your co-worker or a friend who might reach out to you for encouragement.
In addition, Watch the sun rise and His creation all around you awaken. Praise Him for all His goodness and thank Him for whatever the day brings your way.
A Healthy Spirit is constantly growing growing
Your health and wellness will thrive if you are consuming the proper things. Always strive to learn something new. Stretch that BRAIN you might surprise yourself.
I’ll give you an example. When I turned 48, I decided to push myself to do hard things. I went back to school. I took courses that I avoided in my younger years in college. I took Chemistry, Microbilology, Statistics, and Anatomy and Physiology. I got better grades than before. And discovered how much I genuinely enjoy Physiology, and how our bodies heal itself through God’s perfect intellectual design.
While on my learning journey I discovered a new technology founded by David Schmidt. He is the owner and inventor of Lifewave. A healthy Spirit produces good things.
Every aspect of your life can thrive if what you consume is healthy. Only after being adequately fed can, you produce beneficial words and actions and be effective for others. Consume, meditate on and memorize God’s word; this is how you renew your spirit daily.
In addition, there is no better way to appreciate God’s creation then getting outside and being active. Breathe in fresh air and adopt an attitude of gratitude. Finish your day well by thanking God for all the good things before your go to sleep.

The right amount of sleep will help you detox from the days stress
Deep restful sleep has many health benefits. Sleep is vital for your health, almost more important than what you put on the end of your fork. Of course, gut health helps with optimal sleep.
I hear all the time “I am just at the age where you do not sleep anymore”. But the reality is everyone can and should make lifestyle changes that will help in achieving deep, restful, and the right amount of sleep. You should be able to enjoy a good night’s sleep at any age. Your daily choices influence your sleep.
Start today with taking a walk after dinner. Yes, even if it’s cold and dark. This temperature change and activity is important for closing the circadian rhythm routine for the day. On this walk reflect on the day, praising God for the good and assessing the challenges.
The right amount of sleep is important for feeling restful
Your health and wellness will improve, and you will thrive with the right amount of sleep. The best hours to achieve deep sleep is from 10:00 pm until 2:00 am. These hours are where detoxification happens. Throughout the day our bodies accumulate toxins via oxidative stress, chemicals from consumption of our tap water and processed foods as well as our environment. If we do not properly de-tox throughout the night we will stack the toxins onto the next day. This leaves you feeling tired, brain fog, and just straight depleted which is NOT the way to start a day of success. Your daily choices influence your sleep.
The right amount of sleep is important for feeling restful
Studies have indicated that the optimal amount of sleep needed is seven to eight hours. God’s perfect design allows us to fall into that deep sleep so that the stress from the day gets flushed away removing the toxins and regenerating cells. Why is Activity important

Perhaps you are wondering why is activity so important? I am glad you asked.
Imagine. You continually put food into the garbage disposal but never turn it on. This isn’t a pretty picture, but all the food becomes one big lump of goo that clogs your sink and can potentially damage your garbage disposal. In order to remove the food from the disposal, you must have an energy source, in this case electricity to turn on the disposal to clear out the pipes.
Well, the same thing happens in our bodies. With lack of movement or activity all the food we consume gets clogged up and creates inflammation, basically artery “pipe” back up.
Inflammation is the result of a lack of activity
Inflammation left unmitigated becomes chronic and may lead to cognitive decline, low energy, and chronic disease like, Alzheimer’s or diabetes (due to insulin resistance). However, your overall Health and Wellness can improve greatly by incorporating a few activities into your daily routine.
The benefits of Activity include having more energy
The law of energy states that energy changes it is not created or destroyed. The following are six different types of energy: chemical, nuclear, electrical. mechanical, thermal and radiant. Exercise and nutrition are the two health cornerstones. Exercise is King while nutrition is Queen. Exercise is needed for nutrient absorption and utilization. In addition activity helps with enhanced blood flow, oxygenation to your cells, improves mood, elevates cognitive function, improves mental health, improves gut health, decreases inflammation, decreases oxidative stress, expels metabolic waste, delivers nutrients to the brain and releases a cocktail of feel-good chemicals: endorphins, dopamine and serotonin.
In other words Activity soothes the nervous system and improves mitochondria function.
